Family Pleaser - Yak Arm & Chuck Roast

A hearty, slow-cooked family favorite!
This recipe brings out the deep, rich flavors of tender yak arm or chuck roast, perfectly seasoned and simmered with potatoes, carrots, and onions. The hint of teriyaki and crushed red pepper adds a comforting sweetness with a gentle kick — a true family pleaser that’s easy to make and hard to forget.

Ingredients

  • Slow Cooker
  • 3 to 4 pounds yak arm or chuck roast depending on the size of your family
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 2 cups hot water mixed with ¼ cup beef soup base
  • 1 bag baby carrots
  • 6 peeled potatoes cut into quarters
  • ½ tablespoon crushed red pepper or dried jalapeño
  • 2 tablespoons seasoning salt
  • ½ cup Teriyaki sauce
  • Montreal Steak seasoning

Instructions

  • Turn slow cooker on LOW.
  • Place chopped onion in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Add 2 cups hot water mixed with ¼ cup beef soup base.
  • Sprinkle Montreal Steak seasoning on both sides of the roast.
  • Place roast into the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle ½ tablespoon crushed red pepper on top.
  • Add carrots and potatoes.
  • Sprinkle 2 tablespoons seasoning salt over roast and vegetables.
  • Pour ½ cup Teriyaki sauce evenly on top.
  • Cook on LOW for 7 hours.

Notes

After 5 hours, the aroma will start filling your kitchen.
Check after 6 hours — if the roast is tender and falling apart with soft vegetables, it’s done.
You can keep it on Warm for up to 2 hours before serving.
