Mississippi Pot Roast - Yak Arm & Chuck Roast

Delicious slow cooking family favorite! Mississippi Pot Roast is delicious served with mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, or vegetables like carrots, green beans, or broccoli. You can serve it with a side of crusty bread, biscuits, or rolls to soak up the flavorful cooking juices.
Can I use another cut of meat?
Yak Chuck or Arm Roast works best!

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 1 Yak Arm OR Chuck Roast
  • Salt & Pepper OR Seasoning Salt
  • 1 Packet Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 1 Packet Dry Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 Stick Butter (Can add ½ stick more for extra flavor)
  • Pepperoncini Peppers

Instructions

  • Rinse your meat under water & pat dry
  • Sear the roast on both sides
  • Season your roast with salt & pepper OR seasoning salt on both sides
  • Place the roast in the slow cooker
  • Add 1 Packet of ranch dressing mix over the top of the roast
  • Add 1 Packet of dry onion soup mix over the top of the ranch dressing mix
  • Add 1 to 1½ sticks of butter on top of roast (Can also use garlic & herb butter)
  • Add Pepperoncini Peppers around the outside & top of the roast (if you want a bit of a kick of heat try adding a bit of juice from the peppers)
  • Slow cook for 8 HOURS - DO NOT open the lid while cooking as this will disrupt the cooking process
  • Take 2 forks and shred the meat into small pieces & cut off any fat

Notes

This delicious and easy treat can be served over rice, mashed potatoes, or over rolls/biscuits with vegetables on the side. Your family will be asking when you can serve this again! Yak is the healthiest red meat on the planet!
